{"id":109,"date":"2012-01-19T15:30:40","date_gmt":"2012-01-19T19:30:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bender.library.american.edu:8083\/archives\/?p=109"},"modified":"2012-01-19T15:30:40","modified_gmt":"2012-01-19T19:30:40","slug":"three-new-exhibits-for-the-spring-semester","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.library.american.edu\/archives\/three-new-exhibits-for-the-spring-semester\/","title":{"rendered":"Three New Exhibits for the Spring Semester"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<strong>Basketball: An AU Tradition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>AU\u2019s men\u2019s basketball team is the oldest on campus.\u00a0 The first intercollegiate game was played in 1926.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The women\u2019s team debuted in 1966.\u00a0 Both AU\u2019s men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams have been to the NIT. \u00a0\u00a0The media guides, photographs, and programs on display showcase some of the milestones in both teams\u2019 histories.\u00a0 The exhibit is on the first floor of the library and will run through the end of the semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ukioy-e Landscape Prints from the Charles Nelson Spinks Collection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To celebrate the 2012 Centennial National Cherry Blossom Festival, American University Library is featuring its Charles Nelson Spinks Collection.\u00a0 The Ukiyo-e prints in the collection depict actors, famous places, geisha, landscapes, and nature scenes. \u00a0On display are landscapes by Hiroshige, Hokusai, and other artists. \u00a0The exhibit is on the third floor of the library and will run through the end of the semester.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights of the William F. Causey Collection<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In honor of the bicentennial of the birth of Charles Dickens on February 7, 2012, American University Library has installed a display of works by and about Dickens from the William F. Causey Collection.\u00a0 Also on view from the Causey Collection are examples of award winning American fiction.\u00a0 This is the first installment of a series of exhibits featuring titles from the Causey Collection.
