This celebration was created in 1925 by historian Carter G. Woodson and his organization, the Association for the Study of Negro Life and History (ASNLH), and was originally named Negro History Week. After spreading across America throughout the 20th century, Negro History Week was expanded into Black History Month in 1976. Whether you watch these films in February or beyond, these movies are all available on DVD for members of the AU community. Don’t have a DVD player at home? Don’t worry!
