Two of her trainers, Murray Frank and Peggy Gruenbaum, had just gotten married, and of course, the trainees and staff of India Urban Community Development Group XXIII wrote and performed a play to express their congratulations\u2014and worries over the coming assessments.<\/p>\n<p>The play contained six scenes\u2014with volunteers playing the parts of other volunteers\u2014and several original musical numbers. Various scenes played off of common tropes about the Peace Corps, anxiety over placement, and teasing of other volunteers. Hindi class.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Linas: \u201cNo let&#8217;s go get another beer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Barda: \u201cNo good man, no good.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Langdon: \u201cReaches in the laundry bag, pulls out a shirt, smells both pits, grabs the can of Right Guard and sprays it down, and says while putting the shirt on \u201ccough, cough, mumble, mumble.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Everyone sings Sixteen Words and Exits. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\u201c<u>Sixteen Words\u201d<\/u><br \/>\nYou learn sixteen words,<br \/>\nAnd whaddya get;<br \/>\nAnother day of Hindi<br \/>\nAnother day I usually let them make the important decisions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peggy: Pats him on head. \u201cOh, angel lambie pie cutie, honeydoll.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murray Frank: \u201cOh moonie Grunie\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peggy: Pats him on belly. \u201cHow\u2019s your tankie\u00a0 Frankie?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murray Frank: \u201cListen Peggy, I understand your name is Gruenbaum.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Peggy: \u201cThat\u2019s right, Murray, but I\u2019ll be Frank with you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entire cast comes out and sings \u201cTonight.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><u>Tonight<\/u><br \/>\nTonite, Tonite, is not just any nite,<br \/>\nTonite, is the eve of assessment.<br \/>\nTonite, tonite, our fates with you tonite,<br \/>\nAnd for some, dreams will stop where they are.<br \/>\nSometimes the reading goes so slowly,<br \/>\nThe Hindi drags along, yet still our hopes are high,<br \/>\nPeace Corps, our life, and the goals we<br \/>\nSeek tonite, may go-on, to-nite.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">So thus tonite, we hope you like tonite,<br \/>\nCause tonite, we had to let off some steam.<br \/>\nAnd Peg and Murray, we toast with you tonite,<br \/>\nFor your love, to go on, for ever more,<br \/>\nNow we\u2019ll end our little skit, and<br \/>\nDrink and dance along, with<br \/>\nOur hopes in our hearts,<br \/>\nO staff, think twice, and let<br \/>\nOur goals to go to Bombay, Gi Ha!<\/p>\n<p>Before donating her materials to the Peace Corps Community Archive, Williams briefly noted where her fellow volunteers ended up.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the cast members finished their training and departed for Bombay (now Mumbai), including Joseph Barda, Richard Falstein, Daniel Grear, Linas Jurcys, Kevin Kane, Michael Ladd, David Langdon, Kathleen Morey, Joseph Ryan, and Alan Taradash.
