conveyed through letters, photos, and diaries of returned Peace Corps volunteers.\u00a0 However, many of the collections also include volunteers\u2019 handwritten notes, outlines, exams, and other materials from their Peace Corps training.\u00a0 All volunteers attended some form of training prior to their departure, or, in later years, immediately upon arriving to the country of service.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_251\" style=\"width: 2036px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.library.american.edu\/pcca\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/19\/2013\/11\/Frum-Certificate-1965.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" training materials provide insight into what the Peace Corps considered essential for volunteers to know about the country\u2019s culture, history, and language.\u00a0 They also demonstrate the process Peace Corps trainers used to educate and prepare volunteers for living and serving in a culture very different from their own.\u00a0 Several collections include images of service and construction projects undertaken during the volunteers\u2019 training.\u00a0 Construction projects, as well as visits to local social, industrial, and government agencies provided experiential knowledge for volunteers preparing to work in community development.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_252\" style=\"width: 2013px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a
