Guess the Theme: A commonality connects these films... can you figure it out?

Guess the Theme – February Results, March Movies

Congratulations to Luke Dibonaventura ’27 for winning February’s Guess the Theme contest. His correct guess entered him into a random drawing for a free drink token from the Davenport Coffee Lounge. Were you able to figure out the theme? As a reminder, the movies were: Boyz n the Hood, Precious, 12 Years a Slave, Moonlight, Get Out, and BlacKkKlansman. The theme was “Black directors nominated for Best Director at the Oscars.” The two movies that helped Luke figure it out were BlacKkKlansman and Get Out because he remembered both Spike Lee and Jordan Peele getting nominated. His favorite movie from the list, however, is Moonlight.

If you want a chance to win your own Dav token, make sure to stop by the Guess the Theme poster near the Circulation Desk on the first floor of the library and submit your guess for March’s contest. This month’s theme is pretty tricky, so here’s a hint: check our March blog posts. The movies for this month are down below:

The winner of the free drink token will be randomly drawn from the eligible submissions with correct guesses and will be revealed at the end of the month. Check back in here at Media Services News to see if your guess was right and to preview the April movies. Good luck!
