SXSW: New Premieres and Old Favorites

The 2024 South by Southwest (SXSW) festival kicks off today in Austin, Texas. Founded in 1987, this annual March event combines music and comedy showcases, film and television screenings, tech competitions, awards ceremonies, and more. While it’s more than just a film festival, the movie screenings often take center stage. Some of the most popular films of the past few years have made their debut at SXSW. We’re going to take a look at this year’s headliners as well as some favorite films from our collection that originally premiered at SXSW.

2024 Headliners

Babes

The Fall Guy

Colt Seavers, a battle-scarred stuntman, is drafted back into service when the star of a mega-budget studio movie—directed by his ex, Jody Moreno—goes missing.

The Idea of You

Based on the acclaimed, contemporary love story of the same name, The Idea of You centers on Solène, a 40-year-old single mom who begins an unexpected romance with 24-year-old Hayes Campbell, the lead singer of August Moon, the hottest boy band on the planet. Based upon the book by Robinne Lee.

Immaculate

A devout American nun embarks on a new journey in a remote convent in the picturesque Italian countryside. Her warm welcome quickly devolves into a nightmare as it becomes clear her new home harbors a sinister secret and unspeakable horrors.

Monkey Man
