Media Services has added several new pieces of equipment to our collection that are now available for checkout. These tools are well-suited to support academic projects, as well as the creative and professional areas of your life. Check out the newest equipment below and learn how you can use them!

Portable Photo Studio Box

A black foldable photo studio.

The Portable Photo Studio Box is designed for capturing well-lit photos of various objects, while also being convenient to carry and set up on-the-go! With built-in LED lighting and easy set-up, this piece of equipment makes it easy to create professional looking shots just about anywhere (yes, even in your dorm). It’s especially useful for photographing items like merchandise, small projects, artwork, and more, for class projects or online shops like Depop and eBay.

Manfrotto Variable Friction Arm

A small variable friction arm with a clamp at one end.

The Manfrotto Variable Friction Arm is a versatile tool that allows you to secure cameras, lighting, and other accessories at various angles. The clamp is able to attach to many different kinds of surfaces, making it ideal for projects where you need extremely precise and specific angles. If you need to capture flat-lay (cooking, crafts, etc.) or low-angle footage, this arm could come in especially handy!

Impact Pro Rapid Portable Background

A collapsible white backdrop.

The Impact Pro Rapid Portable Background is a collapsible backdrop designed for photo and video projects. This version features a white background, making it perfect for interviews, headshots, or product photography. It’s super easy to set up; simply flip out the legs and pull up the screen! Like the Portable Photo Studio Box, it can be used just about everywhere, but make sure you have enough vertical space, because the backdrop is 7 feet tall!

Auray PFSS-55 Microphone Pop Filter

A microphone pop filter bent to the right, with a clamp on the other end.

The Auray PFSS-55 Microphone Pop Filter helps improve audio quality during the most important step of the process: recording. This tool reduces harsh popping sounds known as “plosives”, caused by the vocalization of consonants like “p”and “b”. The filter can attach to surfaces or microphones. A pop filter would be a useful addition to a podcast, voiceover, or broadcasting project, and would pair well with another piece of media services equipment, the Blue Yeti Mic.

New DVD Players!

A remote control in the upper left hand corner, and a portable DVD player on the right with its screen swiveled slightly.

There are now also four additional media players available for loan! In addition to being able to play DVDs, which can be borrowed from the Media Services collection, the players also support media playback from USB drives, allowing users to play their own video files. New additions include a Panasonic Blu-Ray Player, a MEGATEK Region-Free DVD Player, which allows playback of DVDs from any region, a WONNIE Portable Blu-Ray Player, and a Boifun Portable DVD Player.

Note: Only players specifically indicated as Blu-Ray players are capable of playing Blu-Ray disks. To borrow these media players, come to the Circulation Desk on the first floor of Bender Library and let the staff know what kind of player you need. While you’re there, you can borrow from our extensive Home Use Media Collection!
