Spring 2025 Workshops

If you want to make use of the Media Services A/V collection but you don’t know where to start, come visit our workshops. These workshops are designed to teach you the skills you need to realize your creative vision for any multimedia project you’re working on.

Our workshops are held once a week on a four-week cycle: Week 1 is Basic Camera Skills, Week 2 is Basic Video Skills, Week 3 is Basic Audio Skills, and Week 4 is a deep-dive into a specific type of project (Podcasting, Recording Interviews, or Portrait Photography). This four-week cycle repeats three times a semester, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch each workshop.

Whether you are a complete A/V beginner or you just want to brush up on your skills, stay tuned to the Media Services blog for news about all of our upcoming workshops. The dates of all of our workshops and events can be found on the calendar page.

Starting this semester, Media Services workshops will be held during the same timeslot each week (Wednesdays at 4 PM). The topics for the first four workshops are listed below:

Learn the basics of operating DSLR and mirrorless cameras​Learn the basics of setting up and shooting video​Learn the basics of using different pieces of audio equipment (audio recorders, wireless microphones, podcasting microphones)​Learn the basics of podcasting (planning, setting up, recording, and editing). Builds on the fundamentals discussed in the Basic Audio Skills workshop, but attendance at both is not required.

All workshops take place in DRI Lab on the first floor of the library unless otherwise stated. Equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
