HIP-HOP: Beyond Beats and Rhymes takes an in-depth look at representations of manhood, sexism and homophobia in hip-hop culture. This groundbreaking documentary is a “loving critique” of certain disturbing developments in rap music culture from the point of view of a fan who challenges the art form’s representations of masculinity.
Discussion to follow film, led by Georgetown Assistant Professor Scott Heath, whose research has included African American literature and black public culture, including hip-hop studies.

Green on the Screen videos will be shown every Thursday @ 12:30pm throughout the Spring Semester in the Media Services Classroom on the lower level of the AU Library. The screenings are open to all and attendees are welcome to bring lunch. Most of the videos scheduled run 60 minutes or less.
