The 10th outing of the Annual Immigration Film Fest will be held through October 20-22. If you can’t make it to the theaters, you can watch some of the films online from the comfort of your home. The festival also features a reception where you can meet the creators, actors and the wonderful people whose stories inspired the films.
The theme for this year’s Immigration Film Fest is “Resilient Together.” The films screened for the festival will take us on the inspiring journeys of brave and tenacious immigrants around the world who made a life for themselves in faraway lands.
Day 1 of the event will have screenings at the MLK Jr. Memorial Library. Located very close to metro stations and bus stops, this will be the ideal Friday night destination for AU faculty, students and staff. Day 2 will feature some heart wrenching tales of LGBT refugees at Miracle Theater and then the keynote films on Middle Eastern and Central American refugees at Edlavitch DCJCC JxJ Theater. There will be a creator QnA and refreshments following the screenings. Finally, the festival will draw to a close on Day 3 with more fascinating films from diverse creators and subjects at Edlavitch DCJCC JxJ Theater in the afternoon and evening.
If you are a filmmaker, a film buff or an immigrant in the DMV area, this festival is a must-visit for you. You can click this link to visit the festival website and learn more: https://immigrationfilmfest2023.eventive.org/welcome
