One of the many resources available to faculty and students through the American University library is Kanopy, a streaming video platform primarily for educational and academic content. Kanopy offers a rotating collection of media with access to over 10,000 titles and it’s completely free to use with your AU library account! One of Kanopy’s newest features is its monthly film club, the Kanopy Cinema Series, where community members gain free access to a film through Kanopy and can attend a Live Q&A with the director or other professionals. For March, Women’s History Month, Kanopy selected the film Plan C directed by Tracy Droz Tragos. The Cinema Series Q&A event with Tragos and Plan C founder Francine Coeytaux is coming up on March 7th, with streaming access to Plan C from March 4th to 8th. Those who plan to attend the Q&A are able to submit questions beforehand that they hope to see answered during the webinar.
Kanopy’s choice to show Plan C was deliberate and they explain why the film was an important pick for this month: “For Women’s History Month in March, we’re spotlighting a 2023 film coming to Kanopy, Plan C, which documents four recent years of the grassroots efforts of the Plan C campaign. Activists and providers in the film seek to expand access to abortion pills by mail amidst pandemic challenges and tightening reproductive rights with the threat to Roe v. Wade.”
